Dr. Jim Huffman

Jim was born in Campbell County Kentucky and attended High School at Campbell County. He attended Northern Kentucky University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1984 with a B.S. Degree. He earned his M.D. degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1988. He was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, an honorary medical society. He was an Internal Medicine Resident at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Cincinnati from 7/88 through 6/89. He was a resident in the U.K. Ophthalmology Department from July 1989 through June 1992. He is Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

After completing his residency, Jim opened a practice in East Bernstadt, Kentucky and later moved to London. His brother, Mark joined his practice in 1997 and the practice name was changed to Huffman & Huffman, P.S.C. In 2002, the brothers purchased Dr. Rose’s practice in Somerset. Dr. Jim currently practices in London, Somerset, Harlan and Jellico.

Jim has been married to Paula since 1984. They have 4 children, Jimmy a senior at Western University
(He plans to attend Medical School), Sarah, a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University, Rebekah, a sophomore at Western Kentucky University and Rachel, a junior at South Laurel High School.

Jim enjoys working in his yard. He has an interest in planting native species of plants and over the years, has planted almost every species of tree that is native to this area. Currently, he is concentrating on planting native shrubs and wild flowers. Jim also enjoys his 5 dogs and 3 cats.

Jim is active in his Church and is on the board at the Bennett Center. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and Kentucky Academy of Eye Physicians & Surgeons.
